Questioned about hiring Rall after his earlier situation, former medical school dean Bob Churchill, who retired, said at the time the current charges first came to light in 2012, "Dr. Rall paid his debt for this charge more than 20 years ago," adding in a statement to the paper, "He has worked diligently as a physician for more than 50 years to advance medicine in Missouri and beyond, and is highly respected by his peers."
The settlement of the present claims has led to both reimbursement and a five-year corporate integrity agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

MU Health Care also announced settlement of unrelated billing issues that resulted in an additional $3 million reimbursement,
according to the Tribune.
“We consider these settlements to be a fair resolution,”
said interim Missouri University chancellor Hank Foley.
