The 2016 AHRA Fall Conference will be presented entirely online in an education programming style from October 14-28, 2016. HCB News caught up with AHRA’s marketing director, Mike Suddendorf, to learn more about this program and the unique value this virtual format offers to medical imaging professionals.

HCB News: For those who don't know about AHRA, can you provide a quick overview?
Mike Suddendorf: The Association for Medical Imaging Management is the professional organization representing management at all levels of hospital imaging departments, freestanding imaging centers, and group practices. Founded in 1973, AHRA now has over 5,000 members reaching across the country and even around the world. AHRA offers a complete slate of professional development programs, including a comprehensive selection of educational conferences like the Fall Conference we're talking about today, peer to peer networking opportunities, award winning publications, and the Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) credential.

HCB News: How does it work? Is it similar to in-person meetings?
MS: All you need is a device with Internet access. This online conference includes both live and recorded presentations that are available on demand while the conference is in session (October 14-28, 2016). Attendees will have access to eight pre-recorded sessions that they will be able to access and watch on their own time, 24 hours a day. There are also two live sessions scheduled during the conference—these will be recorded so that any attendee who misses them live can watch the recording any time they’d like. Unlike in person conferences with concurrent sessions from which you are forced to pick and choose, you can "attend" all of the offerings at the virtual conference.

In terms of interactions with other participants and presenters, there will be discussion threads related to each session, in which you can post your comments and questions, and get reactions from other conference participants and presenters.

Throughout the two weeks of the conference, live Q&A sessions will be scheduled with each of the presenters. A schedule of the live Q&A sessions will be available on the conference website (you can preview the schedule here), and AHRA will send e-mail reminders for upcoming Q&A sessions to all conference attendees. Even if an attendee has not viewed the pre-recorded session yet, they can still attend that session’s live Q&A to learn from their peers’ questions. If an attendee misses a live Q&A session, they’ll be able to access a recording on the conference website the following day.
