MINNEAPOLIS, MN, November 3, 2016 – IMRIS, Deerfield Imaging, the global leader in intraoperative imaging, announced Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas has recently purchased an IMRIS Surgical Theatre system. This sale marks the second intraoperative suite purchased by Cook Children’s and will complement their existing two-room IMRIS OR Suite.

Cook Children’s Medical Center’s first IMRIS Surgical Theatre was installed in February 2007 and has been used in nearly 800 cases. The addition of a second suite will increase the capacity of Cook Children’s to diagnose and treat additional pediatric patients suffering from brain tumors, traumatic brain and spine injuries, epilepsy, dystonia and more.

“The addition of the IMRIS 3T surgical suite marks an important stride in Cook Children’s mission to offer comprehensive care to patients and their families,” said Dr. John Honeycutt, Medical Director of Neurosurgery at Cook Children’s Medical Center. “It will also further enhance our experience of over 750 cases performed in our iMRI Neurological suite.”

“This addition of a second IMRIS Surgical Theatre reinforces the value the neurosurgical team at Cook Children’s places in the use of this technology to best treat their patients,” said Deerfield Imaging President and CEO, Andrew Flanagan.

The IMRIS Surgical Theatres at Cook Children’s feature a high-field MR that travels to the patient using ceiling-mounted rails. The fully integrated suite allows the scanner to move between an operating room and a diagnostic room, providing on-demand access to high resolution MR images before, during and after procedures without moving the patient from the OR.
