Mortsel, Belgium /Greenville, SC -- February 2, 2017 -- Healthcare quality research organization KLAS recently announced its 2017 Category Leader Awards, and in the first year of honoring vendors for the category of Universal Image Viewer, Agfa HealthCare's XERO Viewer captured the top honor.

Separate from the winners of Best in KLAS, the Category Leaders also earned top honors for helping healthcare professionals provide better patient care. The Category Leader designation is reserved for vendor solutions that lead select market segments in which at least two products meet a minimum level of KLAS confidence.

According to the KLAS Performance Report 2016, Agfa HealthCare is one of two vendors offering universal viewers that are fast and reliable, and noted for continually improving their solutions. "I am happy that Agfa is continuing to develop and put resources into the product to make it better," commented one customer.*

Another explained, "Enterprise Imaging XERO Viewer is great because it is web based, and it allows our radiologists to look at images from their houses. If they need to look at an image, they can just bring it right up and look at it. The system is just plain and simple to use. We just plug in a URL, and we are there."*

Web-based XERO universal image viewer provides secure access to DICOM and non-DICOM imaging data from a wide variety of departments and multiple sources, in one view, to clinicians inside and outside of the hospital. Images from the Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging IT platform or third-party VNAs or PACS can be seen securely in one display. XERO Viewer connects more service lines than any other product in the market. It is more than a viewer: clinicians can exchange and capture images, collaborate, and use mobile workflows. Multi-institution viewing is an attractive feature - outside images and enterprise images can be combined in a single view. With XERO images can be easily shared with patients, referring providers, and hospitals.

The company's Enterprise Imaging platform allows providers to consolidate medical images and information and streamline hardware and storage capacity while eliminating data silos and strengthening data security. XERO viewer plays a critical role in the interoperability of the platform.

"This recognition by KLAS affirms that the market has embraced the versatile and powerful XERO viewer," said James Jay, vice president of Imaging IT Solutions, at Agfa HealthCare. "In all we do, we keep in mind that the patient is at the other end of each image that XERO presents for the clinician. A tool such as XERO helps make every imaging transaction provide the most clinical value, and presents all relevant data quickly and in one view, which can help bolster patient satisfaction and enhance efforts toward value-based care."
