Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging at ProvidenceHospital
Diagnostic radiology encompasses a variety of diagnostic and image-guided therapeutic techniques including all aspects of radiologic diagnosis. Nuclear radiology, diagnostic ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, interventional procedures and other forms of radiant energy. We live in the "Information Age." The last several decades have witnessed a knowledge explosion. Nowhere is this truer than in Diagnostic Radiology, the most technology based medical specialty. The knowledge base necessary to practice competent radiology seems to be constantly expanding. The Radiology Residency at Providence offers a graduate medical education experience of superb depth and scope in all of these modalities.

The entire Radiology Residency Program includes a clinical year in its five year plan. At Providence, you will spend 43 months at the parent institution including its Novi, Michigan outpatient facility, 6 weeks at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and 3 months at Children's Hospital of Michigan. Time will be spent at St. John Hospital in Detroit for additional Nuclear Radiology training. The entire experience will be a rewarding, all encompassing adventure covering all aspects of our exciting specialty. The resident will be provided the fertile feeding ground to develop procedural skills and view cases from every possible pathologic category of disease.
