SIRBEC Health Solutions
is based in Martinez, Ga.
SIRBEC Health Solutions is an unusual name for a company. It combines a number of initials from owner
Darnell Holston's family, along with some key words--Serenity, Intelligence, Reverence. Those are pretty good tenets for doing business in the competitive field of biomedical equipment sales.
"Quality service, honesty, quality products, are what set us apart," said DOTmed Certified Holston. His wife Cookie co-owns the company, which buys and sells new and used equipment. They also do maintenance and repair work.

"In the process of doing the preventive maintenance and repair side, in my contact with various vendors and hospitals, that's pretty much how I get most of my medical equipment. Maybe it's something that is coming out of service, or just locating the medical excess for my clients," he said.
Examples of the type of equipment Holston works with include mammography systems, patient monitors, fetal Doppler, and other equipment. Customers include nearby hospitals, surgery centers, doctors' offices, and local clinics. He also partners with a company that repairs X-ray C-Arms, which has greatly expanded the business.
"We do calibrating, electrical safety tests and finding parts. We locate parts through DOTmed or various vendors I partner with, basically finding the best possible price and the best quality product," he said. "With DOTmed, business has picked up. Because of the way the website is set up, people can go there, exposure is good, and you run into individuals ... looking for things you may have posted, and from there they become repeat buyers. First you must sell them a good product."
In terms of industry trends, he observed, "People are looking for not so much the latest that's out there, but a good quality piece of equipment that's durable and is going to meet their needs and that's where guys like myself come into play. We run into good quality equipment that's been refurbished that a typical doctor could use. Because of health care costs they can't go out and buy a $250,000 new piece of equipment. But they'll spend $60,000 to $70,000 with someone like myself to get something that is going to perform the same."
