GE received ISO 9001:2000
recertification of its Biomedical
Clinical Services Division
GE Healthcare has achieved another industry first with the recent International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 recertification of its Biomedical Clinical Services Division. Although voluntary, ISO certification is an important certification process that examines a company's procedures to ensure the production of quality products and services. Today, ISO is a network of 157 countries working together to establish universal standards for businesses.
As part of the ISO recertification process, GE Healthcare's Biomedical Clinical Services Division, underwent a rigorous process of external audits to prove that quality processes are consistently maintained in all 567 on-site biomedical repair facilities. The certification also provides Biomedical Clinical Services with a standard approach to applying a Quality Management System. This further demonstrates GE Healthcare's commitment to quality and the ability to supply our customer's needs, as well as lends to compliance with JCAHO and state regulations.
"ISO recertification is another step in GE's journey to lead the industry by achieving the highest quality standards. It provides further assurance to customers about the quality, safety and reliability of our biomedical services," said Gary Bobb, General Manager, GE Healthcare. "This accomplishment is not just about excelling in leadership but also demonstrating our commitment to customer value and patient safety by providing consistency and improvements with established service processes."

GE Healthcare uses proactive measures such as quarterly performance reports, customer service measurements, continuous improvement tools, and internal regulatory inspections to drive customer satisfaction and achieve high levels of quality and process improvement. To maintain ISO certification, Biomedical Clinical Services will undergo a yearly audit by GMED, an independent third party, to determine if ISO standards are consistently maintained.
