The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology announces that CMS, Inc., Eastman Kodak Company and Elekta, Inc., have been elected to serve three-year terms on ASTRO's Corporate Advisory Council. These companies were elected by ASTRO's corporate membership and were approved by the ASTRO Board of Directors.

"Maintaining a good relationship with our industry partners is important for the radiation oncology members of ASTRO who work each day to cure people who have cancer," said Mary Austin-Seymour, M.D., Chair of ASTRO's Corporate Relations Committee and a radiation oncologist at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Ore. "By fostering this forum, the Society is able to successfully connect the patient, doctor and industry in targeting cancer care."

The Corporate Advisory Council is a representative body of ASTRO's corporate membership, consisting of nearly 100 medical and pharmaceutical companies who are involved in radiation therapy. Council seats are balanced between small, medium and large sized corporations, represent a cross section of the radiation oncology industry and are elected positions. The goal of the council is to focus on issues of mutual concern to all corporate members and to increase awareness of radiation therapy and advance the science and practice of radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer.
