by Barbara Kram, Editor | April 24, 2007
This annual "must-attend"
ultrasound education
conference takes place
May 1-4 in Atlantic City
The "Leading Edge" is the annual educational conference of the Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute. The conference provides updates on the major specialty areas and overviews of the hot topics in diagnostic ultrasound. The program is designed to meet the educational and CME needs of physicians, sonographers, vascular technologists, nurse midwives and other participants.

The professional education program is complemented by a large exhibit area where manufacturers, including the leading OEMs will display their latest diagnostic equipment.

Physicians and Sonographers can choose from a variety
of seminars for CME credit and certification credit.

Academic offerings include parallel tracks to allow the attendees to create a custom program that addresses the areas of most interest to them. The major themes that will be covered this year include Women's Imaging, Vascular Imaging and Doppler, a Physics Refresher, Pediatric Ultrasound, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, and Contrast Agents.

The Leading Edge program has established a reputation for excellence since its debut in 1980. The newest addition to the academic offerings for 2007 is called the Requisites program. Requisites brings together an outstanding group of speakers to provide attendees with a highly condensed review of the key concepts in each area. Requisites is designed for the resident preparing for Boards and will also be useful for the practicing physician who wishes to obtain an intense review of key concepts in each specialty area.

The leading ultrasound OEMs will be showing off their
latest technology at the Borgata in Atlantic City, N.J.

The Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute is dedicated to advancing research and education activities in the field of diagnostic ultrasound on a national and international level, in keeping with the University's increased emphasis on global involvement. The well established international reputation of the division, its director, Barry B. Goldberg, MD, and his colleagues provides Jefferson with a firm base from which to promote its capabilities in ultrasound research and education, while forging stronger ties with healthcare facilities and organizations around the world that share an interest in diagnostic ultrasound.
