Melbourne, Florida - Sun Nuclear Corporation, a worldwide leader in Radiation Oncology patient safety software and instrumentation, is pleased to announce new developments in advance of the AAPM Annual Meeting exhibition in Denver Colorado, from July 30 – August 3.
First, Sun Nuclear’s SunCHECK™ platform, which already offers integrated patient QA and machine QA in a web application, is adding significant new patient QA features. Support for TomoTherapy® secondary dose calculations, using a GPU-accelerated Monte Carlo algorithm, are in the testing phase with a planned clinical release at the end of 2017, along with support for HDR Brachytherapy dose calculations. The TomoTherapy and Brachytherapy support will complement SunCHECK’s existing automated patient workflow for conventional linacs, which provides 1D, 2D, and 3D dose calculations using a proven GPU-accelerated collapsed cone convolution/superposition algorithm across three clinical workflow phases: secondary calculations, phantomless-pre-treatment QA, and daily in-vivo monitoring, using both EPIDs and log files. In addition, a new Universal Metrics™ feature will be shown, aimed at further streamlining workflow for automated patient QA.
Second, Sun Nuclear will be showing a preview of the newest machine QA development for the SunCHECK platform, called SNC Routine™. The SNC Routine module will provide preconfigured and customizable workflows for daily, monthly, and annual QA, and will integrate seamlessly with the already released SNC Machine™ image-based TG-142 QA module, as well as the patient QA portion of the SunCHECK platform. The SNC Routine preview at AAPM will highlight an improved machine QA clinical workflow as well as fully-functioning, real-time communication with the Sun Nuclear Daily QA™ 3 device, used in Radiation Oncology departments worldwide.

Third, Sun Nuclear announces the release of SunCHECK version 1.7.2, the second SunCHECK release of 2017 and eighth platform release overall. SunCHECK v1.7.2 adds significant improvements to the patient and machine QA modules, and will be on display in the Sun Nuclear booth at AAPM in Denver.
The released SunCHECK platform comprises DoseCHECK™ and PerFRACTION™ for patient QA, and SNC Machine for machine QA. In addition to demonstrations by Sun Nuclear staff, SunCHECK users will present their clinical experiences with the platform during the Sun Nuclear Lunch Symposium and In-Booth presentation program.
“We are excited to be at this point with SunCHECK and to show the latest enhancements to our clinical users,” said Sun Nuclear CEO Jeff Simon. “We believe that integrating patient and machine QA into a single, modern web-based application and making the workflows as automated as possible, is one of the best ways we can help clinicians to focus on improving patient safety.”
Further details will be provided at the Sun Nuclear Corporation booth (# 5001) at the AAPM Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado starting July 30, 2017.
