Primo bone densitometer
SAN DIEGO May 9, 2007 - GE Healthcare exhibited the Lunar Prodigy(r)Primo, a performance bone mineral density (BMD) system designed to help doctors detect and diagnose osteoporosis, a preventative bone-loss disease that affects one out of two women and one in eight men over the age of 50. The Prodigy Primo was showcased May 7-9 at the 55th Annual Clinical Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in San Diego.

The Primo system is built on the foundation of the industry standard Lunar Prodigy, proven to be the most precise method for bone density testing and represents the gold standard for detecting low bone mass and increased risk of fracture. The Primo offers the same Prodigy series breakthrough direct digital technology, precision and accuracy, but in a redesigned and streamlined package to meet the needs of the primary care and in office physician.

"We are incredibly proud of our technology's role in the important fight against osteoporosis," said Jennie Hanson, president of GE Healthcare's Lunar business. "With the Primo, we can now take BMD to the point of care allowing a broader spectrum of clinicians to help detect BMD issues earlier, diagnose more precisely and make better treatment decisions."
