From the November 2017 issue of HealthCare Business News magazine
As DR technology evolves to retain patient data, the topic of cybersecurity and protecting patients’ health information is a growing concern. For example, Canon U.S.A., Inc., as well as its subsidiary, Virtual Imaging, Inc., and parent company Canon Inc., worked with the United States Army to make sure that the RadPRO SOLTUS 100M Mobile Digital X-Ray Systems that they’re now using in the field met the criteria of the Department of Defense's Risk Management Framework (RMF) program – putting the device under rigorous testing at military facilities.
The industry is constantly working to provide improvements that benefit the patient, the technologist and the health care facility. Aside from product enhancements, manufacturers and distributors should be a partner to the health care facility. Providing equipment is only the first step in the relationship. Service, support, training and understanding the health care facilities’ goals and strategy continue long after the initial sale. In order to maximize their investment, health care facilities should take advantage of training offered by manufacturers and distributors of digital radiography equipment and software to help ensure their technologists are productive and are confident in using the new equipment.

Being that use of DR will soon be connected to medical benefit reimbursement, the technology will likely continue to proliferate, and it is vital that health care providers stay ahead of the curve, not only to maintain their own business, but to help ensure that their patients are getting the level of care that they deserve through modern-day solutions.
