Hi, I bet many of you took Monday off due to Memorial Day, and so did DOTmed members. How was your holiday? Did you barbecue? I cooked Japanese dishes with my friends on Saturday for my birthday celebration, and another friends took me out for a lunch as a birthday present on Sunday. It was nice to be with my friends although the celebrations were a week late.

Changing a topic, did you get a chance to see the Miss Universe Contest on tv? It was held on Monday night in Mexico. I just happened to watch it when I turned on the TV, and found that Miss USA and Miss Japan were among the five finalists - which also included Miss Venezuela, Miss Korea and Miss Brazil. I was excited to know who was going to win the title. (Of course, I wanted the Japanese to win.)


As you might know, the Japanese woman, Riyo Mori, won the title of Miss Universe 2007! (FYI: She's the second Japanese person to win the title since Akiko Kojima who became the first Miss Universe from Japan and from Asia in 1959.) We, Japanese, are so proud of her and happy for her.

Do you have any ideas how much value the crown that she won has? The diamond and pearl crown values at $250,000!! And she also got a prize package that includes a two-year scholarship for acting lessons valued at $100,000, a custom wardrobe, a New York City apartment and living expenses for the year of her reign - "WOW!" How awesome to be Miss Universe, right?

I wish I could have that beauty and talent like her so that I could win the title of Miss Universe and New York City apartment and living expenses paid!
