LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference, GE Healthcare announced a new visual analytics solution built on Microsoft Power BI. GE also confirmed that its Centricity Business revenue cycle management and ShiftSelect workforce management workflow systems would shift to the Microsoft Cloud to assist healthcare providers in their transition from volume- to value-based care.

These announcements build on GE Healthcare and Microsoft’s more than 10-year relationship and demonstrate their continued commitment to improving healthcare outcomes through next generation digital solutions. The companies are also working together to bring GE’s Predix platform for the Industrial Internet to Microsoft’s global cloud footprint, enabling customers to capture intelligence from their industrial assets.

“To speed their transition to value-based care, healthcare providers need actionable insights from disparate data sources in their workflows – in a single location,” said Jonathan Zimmerman, Vice President and General Manager of Value Based Care Solutions, GE Healthcare. “With the help of committed and likeminded partners, like Microsoft, we are deploying digital tools that help clinicians and administrators make the most informed decisions possible – quickly and at lower cost.”

To help providers collect more revenue faster, for less cost, GE Healthcare is moving its Centricity Business solution from on-premises to the cloud with Microsoft. This marks the first system of this scope and kind to make the shift to cloud, and GE Healthcare estimates the move could account for an up to 10 percent reduction in costs related to infrastructure. It is anticipated that providers using this solution will also experience significant improvements in productivity through a decrease in time spent on hardware maintenance, higher scalability, faster upgrade functionality and stronger security.

“Cloud and advanced analytics are helping health organizations around the world streamline operations and deliver better outcomes for patients,” said Neil Jordan, General Manager, Worldwide Health at Microsoft. “Innovative GE Healthcare solutions powered by the Microsoft Cloud will help accelerate the transformation of health organizations, underscored by Microsoft’s investments in cloud security and regulatory compliance.”

Centricity Business helps providers deliver a holistic, patient-friendly approach to managing billing inquiries by providing a single patient financial picture and statement. The tool also helps users optimize critical outcomes such as cost to collect, first pass denials, and aged accounts receivable.
