Two nationally renowned experts are joining the Department of Radiation Oncology at NYU Langone Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center.

Andrew J. Evans, MD, became vice chair for clinical operations and medical director on June 1. Most recently, Dr. Evans was an attending physician and director of thoracic radiation oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He also served as director of radiation oncology at Mount Sinai West. While there, he advanced his research in thoracic and genitourinary malignancies, gynecologic cancers, and pediatric neuro-oncology, and ran a world-class department. In his new position, he continues these research activities and oversees all clinical operations in the Department of Radiation Oncology.

Erik P. Sulman, MD, will join the department on September 15 as vice chair for research. He will also work to expand clinical and research programs in the area of brain tumors as co-director of the Brain Tumor Center at Perlmutter Cancer Center. He joins NYU Langone from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he is currently a tenured associate professor of radiation oncology, translational molecular pathology, and genomic medicine, and section chief of central nervous system and pediatric radiation oncology. Dr. Sulman is an international leader in malignancies of the central nervous system and the development of biomarkers for patients with brain tumors.

They will add extraordinary value to our already outstanding, world-class team.”
