BOCA RATON, Fla., April 24, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Sensus Healthcare, Inc. (NASDAQ: SRTS), a medical device company specializing in novel radiation oncology technologies and solutions, today announced that the Company has signed a research and development agreement with the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania to collaborate with the radiation oncology department on clinical research and development for Sensus' Sculptura™ robotic intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) system.

"This collaboration represents a rewarding opportunity to work with a world-class entity in cancer research and treatment," said Joe Sardano, CEO, Sensus Healthcare. "Our work will focus on new indications in an effort to advance new methods of treating cancer in an efficacious, safe and patient-centric manner."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted market clearance to Sculptura™ in February 2019, and the University of Pennsylvania, which is home to the Abramson Cancer Center, is the first in the world to house this new technology. Unique features of Sculptura™ include its 3D Beam Sculpting™ targeted technology, which help doctors to sculpt exact areas of the body with the radiation beam, and respiratory motion tracking, setting it apart from any other IORT system on the market.
