He started practicing in Kingston with Eugen M. Mandel, MD, remaining in that practice until 1998. Dr. Donovan earned his medical degree from the University College Dublin School of Medicine, part of the National University of Ireland, followed by internships at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin and then, after moving to the United States, at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.

He followed these internships with a residency in internal medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, a fellowship and residency in hematology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and a fellowship in oncology at Long Island Jewish Hospital’s Hillside Medical Center in Glen Oaks, N.Y., now Zucker Hillside Hospital.

Dr. Donovan was also a senior instructor in medicine and an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, now the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York. Originally from Dublin, Dr. Donovan has lived in Kingston since 1986.
