The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Data Science Institute (DSI) recently released a new list of FDA-cleared artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms related to medical imaging.

The list simplifies research by radiologists and developers by compiling all AI algorithms cleared for use in radiology in a single location. The list was obtained through a search of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website to find cleared AI algorithms.

Models range from detecting pneumothorax in chest X-rays to highlighting segments of the brain on MRI.

Several models may increase efficiency by detecting positive findings on images and notifying the radiologist of the suspected findings for further action.

Each model includes a summary with the model manufacturer, FDA product code, body area, modality, predicate device, product testing and evaluation related to product performance and clinical validation.

Many of the models match the ACR DSI’s Define-AI use cases and are linked under related use cases. Clicking on individual models takes users directly to the FDA summary letter for more details.

The list of cleared AI algorithms will be updated regularly as they become available.
