Miami, FL: The Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons (SLS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mona Orady, MD to the position of Vice-President. Dr. Orady also serves as the Program Director of the SLS Fellowship in Specialized Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery: Dignity Health Fellowship in Endometriosis, Menstrual Disorders and Advanced Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Orady is the Director of Center for Advanced Gynecology and Minimally Invasive surgery at Dignity Health and the Director of Robotic Surgery Services at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, California. Formerly she served as the Chief of Quality and Education in OB/GYN at Tawam Hospital in affiliation with John Hopkins Medicine in Alain, UAE. She previously was the Director of Robotic Surgery Education at the Cleveland Clinic Obstetrics & Gynecology & Women's Health Institute from 2012-2015, specializing in robotic surgery in benign gynecology. There she developed and oversaw the minimally invasive surgery curriculum for the Gynecology residents. She served as a Senior Staff Physician in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology in the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecology and Robotic Surgery at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan for three years prior to this. She was faculty for their AAGL accredited Minimally Invasive Gynecology fellowship.

She is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents and advancing MIS surgery education with involvement on the Robotic SIG at AAGL. After completing a B.Sc. from McMaster University and an M.D. from the University of Western Ontario in 2001, she completed her residency in OB/GYN at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Board Certified from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2007, she is a current a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was trained in Robotic Surgery in 2009 completing more than 1000 complex cases to date. Her research focus is benign hysterectomy and robotic surgery applications.

The Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons is a non-profit, multidisciplinary and multispecialty educational organization established in 1990 to improve patient care and promote the highest standards of practice through education, training, and information distribution. SLS provides a forum for the introduction, discussion and dissemination of new and established ideas, techniques, technologies and therapies in laparoscopic, endoscopic, robotic, and minimally invasive surgery. SLS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
