VIENNA, March 7 - Carestream Health demonstrated its newly available single-detector KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 9500 System with an innovative design that not only accommodates virtually all general radiology imaging applications but also improves radiographer productivity and workflow. The company also showed its compact KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 3500 System that delivers the small footprint, functionality and convenience required by a broad range of healthcare facilities. Both systems were demonstrated at the 2008 European Congress of Radiology this week and are available worldwide.

The DR 9500 system breaks away from traditional configurations that involve detectors mounted in a table and/or a wall stand. Instead, it has a ceiling-mounted U-arm that contains both a tube and detector to deliver unprecedented mobility and operational flexibility. This system easily moves around the patient to facilitate patient positioning and to enhance radiographer convenience and productivity. For example, it allows radiographers to capture images of the left and right side of the body without moving the patient. It is ideal for a wide variety of general radiography procedures and offers enhanced speed to the operator and comfort to patients with limited mobility. It supports manual and motorised movements.

Both the DR 9500 and the DR 3500 offer a touch screen at the tube head that allows radiographers to improve productivity and patient care by changing x-ray generator parameters and technique settings without leaving the patient or the exam room.

DR 3500 Offers High Productivity in Small Footprint

The DR 3500 system-also demonstrated at the 2008 European Congress of Radiology-is fully motorised with a floor-mounted stand that does not require wall mounts or ceiling suspension provisions. This creates greater placement flexibility and reduces the cost of installation. This single detector system can also be configured with a newly designed moveable table as an option.

In addition to capturing upright and table exams, the Bucky's tilting feature facilitates angled projections. Automatic positioning for upright and table projections can save time for both radiographers and patients. The system can also be configured with a multi-functional, height-adjustable exam table with a four-way floating top that is designed for flexible patient positioning. The pedestal design can be freely positioned at any angle to the detector and supports 500 lbs (227kg).
