Also at the Conference were many DOTmed users, both as exhibitors and attendees. Some are European-based, such as Epoka Mission, TomoVation, and some came from North America, Asia, South America, and the Middle East.

The ECR, which was refounded in 1991 by Prof. Josef Lissner, has grown in importance and attendence each year.

The increasing attractiveness of ECR is mirrored in the rise of submitted abstracts by almost 20% for this year, with a growing proportion of those submission comeing from scientists from the Asian-pacific region, from South, Middle and North America and the Middle East.

The ECR is steadily developing into an event with an international reputation and appeal. The educational program this year offered a comprehensive range of refresher courses, workshops and foundation courses, with a growing focus on interactivity. Categorical courses on MDCT, MRI, and breast imaging, and mini courses on women's imaging and molecular imaging presented the opportunity for attendees to gain compact and systematic information on especially important and dynamically evolving fields.

Two new formats were that introduced at ECR 2008. During the session 'ESR meets Partner Disciplines', radiologists discussed themes of common interest with top class general practitioners. In the new 'Face-off' session, attendees experienced live the efficiency of workstations from different manufacturers.
