CEDAR PARK, Texas – May 5, 2022 – ETS-Lindgren announced its technical contributions to the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2022, the industry's most significant microwave symposium, to be held June 19 to 24 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Hosted by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S), the in-person symposium attracts thousands of global attendees. In pre-pandemic 2019, IMS boasted almost 9,500 attendees from more than 50 countries around the world, as well as a record-breaking 650 exhibiting companies, making it the largest event dedicated to the radio frequency and microwave industry in the world. ETS-Lindgren engineers will present in the Industry Workshops and MicroApps Technical Programs as well as support ETS-Lindgren's Booth #8037 as part of the IMS2022 in-person exhibition.

Michael Foegelle, Director, Technology Development with ETS-Lindgren, will present in the Industry Workshop "Novel 5G Measurement Techniques in Diverse Environments" scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, from 1:30 to 3:10 pm MDT, in Room 205/207. Together with speakers Aurelian Bria with Ericsson AB and Dennis Lewis with Boeing, Dr. Foegelle will discuss how 5G and emerging wireless technologies are being considered in a wide range of spectrum bands to support a significantly increased user density. With the industry's adoption of multi-user MIMO, massive MIMO, and mmWave in emerging wireless systems, several worldwide industries and standards bodies face new measurement challenges in New Radio (NR) Over-the-Air (OTA) testing to verify products meet intended performance parameters demanded by diverse technological requirements. Applications in diverse environments, such as commercial aircraft and base stations, will be reviewed. Dr. Foegelle, an active contributor to the 5G wireless industry standards committees, joins Mr. Bria and Mr. Lewis in reviewing test challenges and proposing novel solutions.

ETS-Lindgren's Jari Vikstedt, Director, Wireless Solutions, and Garth D'Abreu, Director, Automotive Solutions, will present in the Industry Workshop "Emerging EMC Requirements for 5G mmWave Device Measurements" scheduled for Thursday, June 23, from 10:10 to 11:50 am MDT, in Room 205/207. Invited speakers include Jason Coder with the National Institute for Standards & Technology and Aurelian Bria with Ericsson AB. The speakers will address the unique challenges 5G NR technology presents to achieving electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for 5G devices and how this is dependent upon the existence of achievable and appropriate regulatory requirements, including meaningful test methods for demonstrating compliance. This workshop will investigate new developments in test methods focused on meeting the regulatory requirements of the FCC, but with global applications, with presentations concentrating on wireless coexistence and automotive applications. The speakers will also provide information on emerging radiated emissions test methods and research on utilizing a reverberation chamber test methodology for faster TRP measurements.
