United Imaging Healthcare unveiled its new uCT ATLAS 4CM at the RSNA meeting in Chicago last week.

Designed as a sister product to its 640-slice uCT ATLAS scanner, the 160-slice system operates with a 4-cm detector and quarter second rotation times. It also provides the same AI technology as uCT ATLAS, such as uAI Vision 3D camera, which tracks patients in real time from the moment they lie on the table.

“We take all of those software capabilities and bring them to a broader segment of the market," CEO Jeffrey Bundy told HCB News. "I believe it will have a huge impact in the hospital setting and the acute care setting."

uCT ATLAS was recently installed in New York City and the Dallas areas, according to Bundy, who was also on site to witness the first patient examined on the system, earlier this year.

“The technologist was able, with one click, to let the scanner know to scan the head. The head went to the center of the field of view and the system scanned the head," Bundy said. "The patient was then able to get back to the ER where they seriously needed attention."

The scanner has a table weight capacity of 700 lbs.

The uCT ATLAS 4CM is currently pending FDA approval.
