Canon Medical Systems unveiled their CXDI-60G Portable Flat Panel Detector recently at the AHRA.
Thin, lightweight, and robust - the CXDI-60G Portable Digital Radiography System offers true portability and flexibility in high quality DR. Added benefits include low power consumption and a detachable sensor cable for convenient maintenance and installation. The model's detachable sensor cable, which provides power to the unit and transfers data, enables easy room-to-room installation (with an optional power box and PC) from multiple locations, such as the patient's bedside or wheelchair, trauma or ICU, and fits right into most neo-natal incubator trays.
"None of this would be possible if it weren't such a portable system. The new, smaller size is definitely better for orthopedics and babies," said Anne Yi, Marketing Supervisor, Canon Medical Systems.

Another portable DR system displayed at the AHRA was the Canon CXDI-50G Portable DR system, which offers a thin, light-weight design and has a large imaging area of 14 X 17 inches. When combined with a compatible mobile unit, the CXDI-50G can bring digital radiography directly to the patient's bedside. Designed for diverse applications, the compact design is a practical solution for a wide range of room applications that can be difficult to perform with fixed devices.
But, this system is not just limited to humans. Canon Medical Systems has a partnership with Eklin Medical Systems, one of the world's leading providers of veterinary PACS, practice management and digital radiography products. Eklin's latest product, the EDR 6 RapidStudy™ Digital Radiography, features the Canon CXDI-50G Sensor, industry's leading DR sensor.
The sensor provides the system with human medical quality, a full 14" x 17" detection area, unparalleled technology with the largest DR market share, an outstanding contrast resolution and can quickly convert existing X-ray table and camera. Eklin announced their 1,000th Canon panel installation on July 29.
According to Yi, their portable systems have had extraordinary purposes over the years. "Specialists have actually used our systems to uncover artifacts," said Yi. "Our equipment was used to look inside of a mummy at Stanford University, where we were able to see the positioning of the arms and how the feet were bound."
Canon's systems have variously been used during horse races to x-ray the horses before the show, in zoos, during a special on the Discovery Channel about the excavation of Nefertiti, at the Chicago Bulls Arena, and in homeless shelters to image injured people.
Aside from the AHRA, Canon also attends the ATAC, for their advanced tech applications for Combat Casualty Care. The military uses their portable Field Deployable DR System (FDDRS) to image wound soldiers on the field of battle.
