Waukesha, WI - Despite numerous negative earnings announcements, the demand for well-priced new and refurbished ultrasound equipment appears to be robust during the current economic downturn.

MedPro Imaging, a premium provider of new and refurbished ultrasound solutions, reported a 118 percent increase in revenues for the first quarter of 2009 compared to Q1 2008. One key factor fueling this growth is the demand for quality, refurbished ultrasound systems such as the Siemens Acuson Sequoia recently purchased from MedPro by Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.

"We were in need of a high-end system that could provide excellent image quality, but without the high price point to match," said Peter Jabeck, Director, Radiology Department, Mercy Hospital. "I have known the principals at MedPro for several years and am well acquainted with their commitment to finding the right solution for their customers and outstanding customer care. In turn, securing the right imaging solution for us allows us to provide the best in patient care."

The award-winning Acuson Sequoia has been one of the top selling ultrasound systems in recent history. Mercy Hospital will be using the system for a wide-variety of applications including OB/GYN, abdominal, and vascular imaging.

"Our business has expanded rapidly over the past 15 months and shows no signs of abatement despite a challenging economic environment," said Keith Rubenstein, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for MedPro. "We believe our formula for providing state-of-the-art imaging solutions at economical price points, coupled with unparalleled customer service, has helped propel this growth and will sustain it for the future."

The Wisconsin-based MedPro Imaging markets ultrasound products and services in 17 countries. MedPro offers new and used options in ultrasound systems, transducers and parts. The company is an authorized GE national distributor and also offers additional products which focus on other leading manufacturers of ultrasound systems. These include Siemens, Sonosite, ATL/Philips, MindRay, and other highly trusted brands. The company is also now distributing MedStreaming PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) as part of its ultrasound image archiving solutions.

Rubenstein believes 2009 will continue to provide significant growth for MedPro. "Our mission is to provide the highest integrity service, offering customers the most appropriate solutions for their needs. This commitment is essential to our continuing growth throughout not only 2009, but for years to come."
