CareFusion Corporation, the company that will become public following the planned spinoff of Cardinal Health's clinical and medical products businesses, recently launched its new brand and logo. CareFusion's planned spinoff from Cardinal Health is expected to be completed this summer.

"CareFusion will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardinal Health until later this summer when we expect to spinoff as a separate, publicly traded company," said Jim Mazzola, Senior VP of Corporate Marketing and Communication for CareFusion Corporation. "Once the spinoff occurs, we expect our stock to trade on the NYSE under the ticker symbol CFN," he told DOTmed News.

CareFusion will be a medical-technology company that will include well-established brands such as Pyxis automated medication and supply dispensing systems; Alaris smart IV pumps; Viasys ventilators; V. Mueller surgical instruments; and Chloraprep skin prep products for infection prevention.

"Certainly we believe, and our customers worldwide believe that patient safety is top priority and an important component of the ongoing dialogue about health care reform," Mazzola said. "In particular, we are focused on helping our customers reduce or eliminate medication errors and hospital-acquired infections, two of the leading patient safety challenges to resolve."

As previously announced, the new company will be headquartered in San Diego and is anticipated to generate $3.8 billion in annual revenue. CareFusion's 15,000 employees globally will serve customers in 120 countries. (Additional information regarding CareFusion and the planned spinoff can be found in the third amendment to its Form 10 registration statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on June 26, 2009. )
