From the exhibition hall of the recent ASTRO annual meeting in Chicago, TomoTherapy president and CEO Fred Robertson talks with DOTmed about his perspective on ASTRO's 2009 annual meeting, changes in the radiation oncology industry and two important TomoTherapy product launches that occurred at the show this year.
Tune-in as Robertson talks about the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) final ruling on reimbursement for how it will affect radiation oncologists and manufacturers of radiation therapy systems. TomoTherapy debuted the TomoHD Radiation Therapy System, which offers two distinct and integrated treatment modes - TomoHelical mode, for continuous 360-degree movement of the beam around the patient, and TomoDirect, for discrete-angle beam treatment. Robertson also talks about TomoTherapy's patented binary collimator. In the second feature, Robertson reveals the TomoMobile, the first all-inclusive mobile cancer center.
