Royal Philips has launched the Flash Ultrasound System 5100 POC, a portable point-of-care (POC) ultrasound system aimed at supporting rapid clinical decision-making in high-pressure settings such as emergency departments, intensive care units, and operating rooms.
The Amsterdam-based company said the system is designed for a range of frontline uses, including anesthesia, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal exams, and critical care imaging. Built on Philips’ existing imaging technology, the Flash 5100 POC offers touchscreen controls, real-time documentation features, and image automation tools to help clinicians streamline workflow and reduce diagnostic delays.
According to Jeff Cohen, global business leader of ultrasound at Philips, “The Philips Flash 5100 POC represents a major leap forward in our commitment to Point-of-Care ultrasound innovation.” He added that the system is intended to support both experienced and less traditional ultrasound users with immediate, bedside access to diagnostic tools.

The new device is equipped with compatibility for Philips’ tele-ultrasound platform, Collaboration Live, which allows clinicians to share live imaging and consult with remote colleagues in real time. This feature aims to address the growing need for connected care in facilities facing staffing shortages and rising patient volumes.
The company said the Flash 5100 POC complements its existing POC offerings, including Lumify and the Compact 5000 Series, providing health systems a way to expand ultrasound capabilities without overhauling infrastructure. The system supports cross-platform transducers, including the mL26-8, which was recognized with a 2023 innovation award in general imaging.
The launch follows recent FDA clearances for AI applications in Philips’ Lumify system and the March rollout of the AI-enabled Compact 5000 Series. These developments reflect the company’s broader strategy to expand its ultrasound portfolio with scalable, AI-integrated solutions.
The Flash 5100 POC is now available worldwide.
