Fujitsu to Showcase Scanners for Medical Administrators at HIMSS

by Barbara Kram, Editor | February 08, 2006
Sunnyvale, CA, February 6, 2006 -- Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, will showcase several of its award-winning scanning solutions at the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition, Feb. 12-16, 2006 in San Diego, Calif.

At HIMSS, Fujitsu will demonstrate the capabilities of several of its workgroup scanners including the fi-5120C, fi-5110C, fi-60F, fi-5530C, fi-5650C, and fi-5900C. All Fujitsu scanners include advanced document imaging functionality that enable healthcare professionals to improve workflow efficiency while assisting the organizations to become more regulatory compliant. Fujitsu scanners are known for their outstanding paper handling, fast scan speeds, and competitive software bundles but they also include additional features like embossed hard-card scanning which allows users to directly scan insurance, identification, and credit cards. In a healthcare environment, that functionality, when paired with bundled software such as the Adobe© Acrobat© 7.0 Standard, can expedite the check-in and record retrieval process, simplify records management, improve employee efficiency, save money and increase patient satisfaction.

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. will be at booth # 4701.

Fujitsu To Present Biometric and Data Security Solutions for Medical Practitioners at HIMSS 2006

Fujitsu will also showcase its PalmSecure biometric security technology at the HIMSS Conference.

Fujitsu introduced this highly accurate, user-friendly, contactless, biometric authentication technology in June 2005, creating new security opportunities for healthcare providers in the U.S. and around the world. It works by capturing an image of the subject's internal palm vein pattern and matching that image against a pre-registered template. PalmSecure is currently being used with great success at the University of Tokyo Hospital for access control to high-security rooms that house patient records and other sensitive data. In addition to providing physical access control, PalmSecure is also used for data security acting as a gatekeeper to computer or network access.

At the conference Fujitsu will also give a special sneak preview of the new Mag EraSURE disk drive degausser that enables fast, quiet and secure disposal of sensitive data on most types of magnetic media. With its ability to permanently erase digital data from disk drives, back-up tapes and removable disks, any HIPAA-compliant medical facility can be assured that their confidential information and patient data will be protected.
