has the marketing people
at Kodak smiling
Chicago, IL, February 24 -- A new dental CR solution from Eastman Kodak Company can provide dental professionals using film the benefits of digital radiography, with minimal cost and disruption to their current practice workflow.
The robust, yet easy-to-use KODAK CR 7400 Digital Radiography System will be launched in the United States and Canada at this year's Chicago Mid-Winter Dental Meeting, and will be released globally over the next few months.
Based on computed radiography (CR), also referred to as phosphor storage plate (PSP) technology, the flexible KODAK CR 7400 System delivers a full range of intraoral and extraoral images digitally, eliminating the need for traditional film processing. Utilizing standard positioners and techniques, the system offers a full range of sizes (0-4) for intraoral diagnostic examinations. In addition, the system easily converts existing film-based panoramic and/or cephalometric systems to digital for extraoral imaging needs.

The KODAK CR 7400 System is fully integrated with KODAK imaging software for image processing and on-screen display. The system can enhance patient education, improve referral communications and streamline practice workflow. Since Kodak utilizes one software platform to manage all its imaging solutions, the KODAK CR 7400 System is ideal for practitioners who already utilize one of Kodak's other digital systems or who wish to add additional KODAK digital radiographic and imaging components in the future.
"We are pleased to offer the KODAK CR 7400 System as an additional option for dental and specialty practices," said Karen Ruckman, global director of marketing for Kodak's dental systems group. "Kodak is in a unique position to offer dental professionals all currently available radiographic and imaging technologies - from film-based systems to direct digital radiography systems (sensors), and now computed radiography technology."
"Quality and ease of use are key benefits of this system," said Bruno Ehrmann, worldwide product line manager, Kodak's dental systems group. "Kodak's vast experience in CR medical imaging has enabled us to incorporate many features to improve efficiency and productivity in the dental practice. The system's innovative design and workflow enhancements, such as simplified full-mouth series workflows, streamlined functionality to enhance durability and automatic plate erase, make it a welcome addition to almost any practice. Since the system can be used for both intraoral and extraoral imaging, practices can quickly realize a healthy return on investment."
