(Sioux Falls, SD and Oceanside, CA) - Sanford Children'sin partnership with Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego will soon open the doors to a new clinic for children in Oceanside, CA that offers pediatric specialty services including primary and urgent care all under one roof. The 28,500-square-foot facility at 3605 Vista Way is made possible by a $2.5 million donation fromthe Wygod's Rose Foundation to Sanford Health. Both organizations held a grand opening celebration today.

Sanford Children's and Rady Children's are sharing space in the building, which is designed to resemble a castle. Sanford Children's operates a general pediatric clinic in 6,000 square feet of the space. Rady Children's has consolidated four nearby specialty clinics, providing specialty services all under one roof. In addition, an after-hours urgent care clinic will be available.

"This is an exciting day for health care in this area, particularly pediatric health care. Sanford Health is committed to pioneering quality health care and innovative research on a global level. There are more than 110,000 children within a ten mile radius of the clinic, and the new facility provides quality health care that is comprehensive, convenient and close to home. Sanford Children's Clinic will open with Donald Miller, MD from Children's Primary Care Medical Group, with additional pediatricians to join in the future. Dr. Miller will begin seeing patients April 4. Rady Children's will provide pediatric subspecialty care, psychiatry, developmental services, the Chadwick Center, and an after-hours urgent care clinic.

"The variety of services offered - developmental evaluations, occupational therapy, urgent care, pediatric subspecialty physician services, the expertise of the Chadwick Center for Children and Families -- will provide parents with an expanded and vitally needed range of care."

The Sanford Children'sClinic in Oceanside is the second Sanford Children's World Clinic to open its doors. It is part of the initiatives outlined after a $400 million donation to Sanford Health from Denny Sanford in 2007. Sanford Children's Clinic in Duncan, OK opened August 2009. Sanford Children's Clinic in Belize City, Belize and a clinic in Klamath Falls, OR are both planning a summer 2012 opening. In addition, a clinic in Dublin, Ireland is expected to open late 2012.
