UTRECHT, THE NETHERLANDS, January 27th , 2015 Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Fuzhou, China has installed a MILabs VECTor/CT system to boost their neurological research with preclinical Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). The PET and SPECT images are automatically registered with a fully integrated low-dose X-ray CT system. The VECTor/CT delivers ultra-high resolution SPECT and PET imaging enabling accurate quantification of local concentrations of radiolabelled molecules in e.g. brain, cardiac, cancer and musculoskeletal research.
"I am excited to use the new VECTor/CT system in my research as it provides the possibility to use ultra-high resolution SPECT and PET simultaneously, which is a unique advantage for my neural function studies. Especially, it can quantitatively reflect the recovery of brain function after acupuncture in animal models of stroke in vivo. I believe that the VECTor/CT system will play a very important role in Traditional Chinese Medicine research", according to Prof. Lidian Chen, President of the university and Head of the brain function research group.
