Vision 2007 for the iU22 also includes a new suite of clinical capabilities for interventional procedures. This includes new Interventional TSI settings for the C5-2, S4-1, X3-1 and V6-2 transducers. These settings are optimized for needle visualization, faster and easier biopsy procedures and image-guided liver ablation. Other new visualization and QLAB quantification tools, encompassing contrast imaging, volumetric imaging and automated stacked contours, make the iU22 one of the first ultrasound system with a comprehensive solution for planning, guiding and assessing liver tumor ablations.
The new D2tcd transducer and Tissue Specific Imaging (TSI) enhancements to the S5-1 PureWave transducer are providing new capabilities for adult trans cranial Doppler (TCD) imaging.

These new enhancements give us a significant increase in capability with TCD. We turn the color Doppler on and see the entire Circle of Willis. This is sometimes available in young adults or children but to see this constantly in adults is something we are not simply accustomed to, said Stephen Meairs, M.D., professor of neurology at University of Heidelberg. In most patients we can now see practically every vessel without using contrast agent.
Other new products and enhancements to the iU22 system include:
*
L15-7io transducer for intraoperative vascular, superficial vascular and musculoskeletal applications.
*
Ergonomic V6-2 automated transducer that allows for 2D and 3D imaging with one transducer and makes volumetric imaging practical in nearly all OB and abdominal exams.
*
STIC (Spatio-Temporal Image Correlation) capability for evaluation of fetal hearts and detection of abnormalities during routine obstetrical exams
*
Quantification capabilities including on-cart access to QLAB cardiac 2DQ for fast, reproducible analysis of LV volumes and ejection fractions.
iE33 intelligent echocardiography system
Philips continues to expand its echo offering with comprehensive solutions for managing congenital heart disease and adult heart failure. The new X7-2 transducer combines xMATRIX technology with PureWave crystal technology into a remarkably compact size. It is the first real-time 3D transducer optimized for pediatric echo examinations.
We are able to image up to 33 to 85 frames per second and get images that are much crisper and clearer than ever before, said Girish Shirali, director of pediatric echocardiography at Medical University of South Carolina. This translates into a dramatic improvement in our ability to quantify ventricular function and examine the heart more carefully in babies who have a very fast heart rate, said Shirali.
