When my parents were young, they could walk to the corner butcher and get their meat custom cut, they knew the local grocer, who would trust them to pay him later if needed, and they knew the people who ran the local auto repair shop. Times change, and where business once used to be all local, it is now global. At DOTmed, we know that as well as anyone; over 75,000 registered users are part of our global community, and more than 11,000 people visit our site every day.

The Internet offers many positives: more equipment, more parts, more buyers, more sellers, better deals. However, the benefit of a local business sphere is lost. It's often hard to tell which people to trust and which you should not online.

We created the Ethics section on DOTmed specifically to address these issues. We take ethics very seriously on our site, and have developed a number of programs to help our users get to know each other, and know whom to trust. By utilizing our user base to "fill in the blanks," our 5-Star Rating System, DOTmed Certified and Code of Ethics all help do identify the best-of-the-best and keep the bad apples out of our industry.
We encourage all our users to rate each other in various categories and for different types of transactions, thus creating a powerful peer-review evaluation process. Every year, we tally up the previous year's votes and compile a list of the one-hundred highest rated users. These individuals make up the DOTmed 100, the crème de la crème of our community. The competition to make the cut is stiff, with thousands of votes for thousands of companies being counted - so making the final list is truly an honor.

Every member of the DOTmed 100 can display the DOTmed 100 emblem in their equipment and parts listings, Services Directory and their own business website. It is a "thank you" for a job well done and a sign to others that a person is trusted by their peers. Over the course of the year, our News Team publishes stories about these individuals, focusing on each, one by one, and their business practices, history and ethics.

Independent of the DOTmed 100, we offer the DOTmed Certified program as a way to further show a commitment to ethics. DOTmed Certified users agree to a Code of Ethics, provide three business references and agree to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. DOTmed Certified users also receive an emblem to publicly display and are promoted in our News.
