GE Healthcare and Trice Imaging are partnering to integrate Trice's cloud-based solution, Tricefy, with GE's ultrasound products.
Tricefy is now available with GE's Voluson E series product line and ViewPoint 6 reporting software. It will ultimately align with GE Health Cloud, which was unveiled at the RSNA 2015 annual meeting.
The solution can be integrated into hospitals' existing PACS systems and clinicians can access the ultrasound images and reports in remote locations. It can even be used as a research tool since DICOM images and clips can be exchanged between different institutions.
Dr. Greggory DeVore, a specialist in maternal fetal medicine in California, uses Tricefy to consult with a referral source or send images to remote pediatric colleagues and cardiologists before meeting with a patient to discuss issues such as congenital heart defects.
The patients receive high-quality images, videos and reports directly to their phones or via email during a routine ultrasound exam. One of DeVore's patients, Krisen Tashjian, received 4-D ultrasound images directly to her phone and email.
“My parents couldn’t come to the exam, but within moments the nurse texted the images to me and my husband and I sent them on to my parents so that they felt as if they were there in the room with us," she said in a statement.

Tricefy is available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Saudi Arabia UAE, India, Morocco, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.
It will be on display at the 2016 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology World Congress in Rome, Italy next week.
