Center, Clinton, N.C.
Sampson Regional Medical Center (SRMC) has signed a letter of understanding to install the Agfa ORBIS™ nursing clinical modules for point of care clinical documentation, flow sheet charting, and care planning. The solution, ORBIS Care™, will enable the community hospital to manage clinical data and patient flow through all departments, giving SRMC's nurses and physicians access to their patients' EMR (Electronic Medical Record). All clinical staff will be able to connect to medical patient medical data and report on it at any time and from anywhere within the organization. ORBIS Care is the first component of Agfa HealthCare's European EMR solution made available to the US healthcare market. With more than 750 installations, ORBIS is a proven solution used by more than 450,000 users around the world.

Based in Clinton, North Carolina, SRMC is a healthcare facility with 146 beds and a staff of 750. It operates three remote clinics and serves a community of over 100,000. When making the selection of its nursing system, SRMC wanted to be sure to provide a system to its staff that would match its specific needs. The components of the ORBIS system that Sampson Regional will install include nursing documentation, flow sheet charting, care planning, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) module, document management, order entry, and results reporting. Once implemented, it will provide nursing staff and physicians with direct access to comprehensive critical patient diagnostic, care, and treatment information, thus providing the tools required to implement quality and patient-focused care plans.

"Agfa HealthCare has demonstrated to us time and time again its ability to understand our needs and deliver the solutions that are tailored to meet our needs, so it was an easy decision for us," said David Ziolkowski, CIO, Sampson Regional Medical Center. "For us, this system represented what we believe is a cutting edge EMR that, implemented in phases, will bring us to our organizational goal of enterprise-wide process automation and efficiency. That is one of the keys to running a successful healthcare organization and providing a high level of service to our patients."
