From the June 2018 issue of DOTmed HealthCare Business News magazine

Estimated Date: 1920
Name: Tesla Coil
Manufacturer: Shelton
Description: Tesla Coil in a black leatherette case with two associated glass applicators. The apparatus is housed in a black box measuring 12” x 6.5” x 2.5”. There are several glass vacuum tubes in the box. The Tesla coil produces a high voltage, low current discharge that ionizes the gas in the tubes. They glow blue and when held near the body, the tube emits sparks that jump the gap. This dramatic effect led to great acceptance and it was used commonly for home therapy of a variety of ills. Tesla played a role in numerous important inventions and was the “father of alternating current”.
