KINGSTON, N.Y. (October 3, 2018) — Physiatrist Rocco A. Chiappini, MD, a specialist in restoring movement and function to people disabled by disease or injury, has joined Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) as Regional Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), overseeing the PM&R departments at HealthAlliance Hospitals in Kingston and MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, all members of WMCHealth.
In his role, Dr. Chiappini – board certified in PM&R, with a subspecialty in brain-injury medicine – oversees the creation of therapy plans to restore the health and functional abilities of people after illness or injury such as a stroke, spinal cord injury, spinal disorder, heart surgery, amputation, joint replacement, sports injury, multiple trauma or other conditions. He also leads an interdisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and other rehabilitation professionals to help patients get back on their feet.
A former medical director of inpatient rehabilitation at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence and medical director of Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, N.H., Dr. Chiappini received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia, now the VCU Medical Center, in Richmond.

He completed an internship in internal medicine at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and a residency in physiatry at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in a joint program with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Chiappini lives in Rhinebeck.
