Clarius Mobile Health unveils wireless Clarius Cart

by John R. Fischer , Staff Reporter
Clarius Mobile Health unveiled Clarius Cart this past week at the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) 2018 Scientific Assembly.

Consisting of a lockable cabinet for holding scanners, the mobile ultrasound accessory provides clinicians greater flexibility in their use of personal ultrasound using traditional cart-based systems but without the limitations of cables.

GE Healthcare ultrasound probe solutions to help protect your investment

GE Healthcare helps reduce the downtime of ultrasounds with online access to probe and accessory purchasing, probe-failure diagnoses, fast repairs and replacements, probe care and handling tips, and reliable service options.

“Hospitals have traditionally used bulky cart-based systems that can be difficult to transport around a large hospital. Over the past decade, they've been introduced to laptop-based systems that are easier to move around but still limit the hospital to one exam at a time while tethered to cables," Dave Willis, co-founder and chief strategic officer of Clarius, told HCB News. "The Clarius Cart features a locked storage container that can hold up to seven Clarius scanners. The programmable lock ensures the wireless scanners stay safe.”

Designed to accommodate both cart-use and personal ultrasound use models, the cart offers clinicians the display attached to it, or the choice to take a scanner and use it with their own personal smart devices. Scanners can be used simultaneously on different devices, as required.

In addition, Clarius scanners are designed to use 192 elements, are equipped with four parallel beamformers, and support a variety of features, including B-Mode, color Doppler, pulsed-wave Doppler.

The cart also offers clinicians a work space for procedures and a charging dock for scanner batteries, eliminating the need to connect to a power outlet, as well as easy transport around hospitals and clinical environments, including at a patient’s bedside.

“It will make hospitals and cross departmental collaboration more efficient as the wireless scanners are easily transported away from the cart and returned after use," said Willis. "The scanners operate independently from each other, allowing you to choose between iOS or Android. This makes sharing scanners across many users easy – simply take a scanner and go.”

Clarius Mobile Health scanners are equipped with algorithms designed by Hologic Inc., as part of an agreement established between the two last November at RSNA in an effort to promote early detection and ensure global access among women to accurate breast health solutions with demonstrated clinical superiority.
