Kodak DIRECTVIEW DR 7500
ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 6 -- Eastman Kodak Company has received 510k clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its new KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 7500 System and will begin shipping this innovative digital radiography system to customers in the fourth quarter of this year.

Shown for the first time at the 2004 annual meeting of the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), this digital radiography (DR) system offers the ultimate in flexibility, enabling medical facilities of any size to configure a digital X-ray solution that meets their individual space, application, workflow and budget requirements.

Kodak's DR 7500 system features a unique wall stand capable of three-axis movement to capture a wide range of upright, horizontal and cross-table projections. The system also features a fixed, elevating table with four-way float that provides flexible patient positioning. Auto-positioning capability moves the equipment to predefined positions with a press of a button.

The DR 7500 also features an integrated operator console that controls all imaging and generator functions to expedite workflow and support improved patient care. The system includes the same user-friendly, touch-screen operator interface as other KODAK computer radiography and digital radiography systems, which can help increase productivity and decrease training time.

To further enhance workflow efficiencies, the KODAK DIRECTVIEW Capture Link System links CR and DR systems in radiology departments, helping to streamline workflow when a study contains DR and CR images. All patient images can be viewed, reprocessed, approved and redirected from the DR operator console.

"As DR technology advances, the DR market is expanding to radiology departments of all sizes, as well as trauma suites, imaging clinics and specialty practices," said Kevin Hobert, President, Kodak's Health Group. "Advanced DR systems like the DR 7500 can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare organizations."
