LITTLETON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mevion will showcase a full suite of new image guidance and patient positioning systems for Mevion’s S250 Series™ of Proton Therapy Systems at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Meeting, September 15th to 17th in Chicago, IL.
While other proton providers believe in a “one-size-fits-all” IGPT solution, Mevion has capitalized on partnerships with best-in-class image-guidance and patient positioning manufacturers to provide a suite that is fully customizable to fit the individual needs of each clinical practice.
A range of 3D imaging options now is available on the Mevion systems. An integrated 360° Cone-Beam CT developed by medPhoton in conjunction with Catalyst PT™ surface tracking from C-RAD is currently in use at Maastro Proton Therapy in the Netherlands. The SOMATOM Definition Edge CT®* on rails from Siemens will be integrated into the Mevion HYPERSCAN® installations at Huntsman Cancer Institute and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Since Mevion’s compact proton therapy systems are embedded into existing radiation therapy departments, the ability to offer the centers preferred immobilization systems can be a great benefit. Mevion’s patient immobilization options now include Qfix’s kVue™ One Proton Couch Top that features a rail-less construction and a thinner total thickness, which enables a smaller air gap from posterior beams. Two additional couch tops from CIVCO Radiotherapy* and Orfit* will be added to the S250 Series patient immobilization offerings later this year.
“We believe that clinicians should have access to the most advanced imaging and positioning products that they feel will best serve their patients,” said Tina Yu, chief executive officer at Mevion. “Our focus on providing accessible proton therapy worldwide includes a commitment to include the most agile and innovative solutions to keep customers on the forefront of advances in delivery and treatment techniques.”
