Located in Kortrijk, AZ Groeninge hospital provides hospital services for the South West region of Flanders. Each year, the hospital treats approximately 35,000 hospitalized patients and some 35,000 outpatients. Currently divided among four locations in the city, the merged hospital has 2,300 employees plus 200 doctors, and the capacity for 1,100 hospital beds. During the transition phase in preparation for the move to a new hospital building, all the medical disciplines have been brought together at one of the four locations. Three of the four campuses will move to the new hospital located on the outskirts of Kortrijk as of 2009.
