Strategic Radiology's coalition of independent radiology practices has expanded its reach into New Mexico through a new partnership with Radiology Associates of Albuquerque.

With 42 radiologists, RAA serves nine hospitals in the state and several urgent care and ED locations that are part of Presbyterian Health Services system. It also covers multiple outpatient sites and is highly subspecialized.

“Radiology Associates of Albuquerque is a highly respected practice that brings its unique experience and expertise in both the inpatient and outpatient imaging environments to share with the SR community. Although most radiology practices face similar challenges, the diversity of each state and community populations allows for opportunities for each SR practice to learn from one another,” Dr. Scott Bundy, CEO of Strategic Radiology, told HCB News.

RAA offers a patient-centered, state-of-the-art free-standing imaging center for outpatient visits, as well as two outpatient imaging locations with its partner, Presbyterian Health plan. These sites include 1.5T open MR, automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) and 3D mammography. It also operates the first imaging center designated by the American College of Radiology as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence in the state of New Mexico.

The company performs interpretations 24/7 every day of the year and has served Albuquerque and surrounding communities for 45 years. As part of SR, it will be able to exchange ideas and work with over 30 other member practices and more than 1500 radiologists to improve clinical quality, grow the scale of operational efficiency and enhance private practice radiology.

SR enables this as host of the nation’s first AHRQ-accredited Patient Safety Organization (PSO) dedicated to imaging, which allows members to share aggregated data for improved decision-making, benchmarking and key performance indicators to enhance patient safety. Its group purchasing organization can also help providers save on expenses with negotiated pricing on products and services, including revenue cycle management, technology platforms (workflow and AI solutions) and a suite of insurance products.

“Membership in SR will allow RAA, an already highly respected, high-quality, high-functioning practice, the ability to further enhance its value proposition to its patients, referring clinicians and hospital and health system partners via access to SR’s programs and services,” said Bundy.
