The informational ECRI Institute session guided the Buyers on the second day when suppliers presented their technology and bid offerings. The third day brought tough contract negotiations, and ultimately, the client committee determined that Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. offered the best technology at the best value.

In winning the sole source award, Toshiba offered optional extended warranties for any client who purchased a CT scanner under the Live Group Buy Agreement. The combination of the Extended Warranty options and technology resulted in Toshiba offering the best Total Life Cycle savings overall.


The participating healthcare facilities were pleased with the results of the CT Live Group Buy. One client estimated the Live Group Buy saved their hospital, "approximately 25% and three months of negotiation time on a new 32-slice CT scanner."
