On the opening day of RSNA 2024, Canon Medical showcased expanded AI tools for medical imaging and remote workflow automation.

Automation Platform
Canon Medical Systems introduced its AI-powered Automation Platform at RSNA, designed to streamline diagnostic workflows and support rapid clinical decision-making, it integrates advanced deep learning technology to provide zero-click solutions to reduce routine tasks for healthcare providers and enhance patient care.

The platform includes three specialized packages: the Stroke CT Package, Stroke MR Package, and Chest Pain CT Package. Each is tailored to address critical decision-making scenarios with capabilities to notify care teams in real time and flag urgent cases.
The Stroke CT package, for instance, features mobile applications for remote team engagement, while the Chest Pain CT package can identify conditions like pulmonary embolisms and aortic dissections for faster intervention.
The Automation Platform integrates with existing systems and includes a Mobile DICOM Viewer, enabling clinicians to access diagnostic images and insights remotely via a unified mobile app, improving connectivity and efficiency.
Updates to PIQE and SilverBeam
Canon Medical Systems is also showcasing the latest advancements to its
flagship system, Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition, which utilizes Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR) technologies, including updates to
the Precise IQ Engine (PIQE) and SilverBeam Filter, to deliver sharper imaging with improved diagnostic accuracy.
PIQE, part of Canon’s Altivity AI portfolio, reconstructs CT images with a 1024 matrix, enabling high-resolution imaging with enhanced low-contrast detectability. Initially designed for cardiac imaging, PIQE now extends its applications to body and lung imaging, pending FDA clearance.
The SilverBeam Filter optimizes the X-ray beam by leveraging photon-attenuating properties of silver to reduce low-energy photon interference, enhancing imaging precision while minimizing patient exposure to radiation. The technology,
initially developed for lung cancer screening, is being adapted for musculoskeletal applications, including trauma-related cervical spine scans.
