Barco has unveiled two AI-driven surgical innovations at NVIDIA GTC 2025, integrating NVIDIA Holoscan technology to enhance visualization and computing in the operating room.
The Brilliant Assistant, developed in collaboration with SoftAcuity, is a voice-controlled surgical display powered by NVIDIA Jetson Orin and NVIDIA Holoscan. Designed for hands-free operation, it facilitates seamless video connectivity and integrates with Barco’s Nexxis software, allowing clinicians to share video sources across connected displays with minimal latency.
Barco is also developing Nexxis Compute, a computing platform optimized for surgical environments. Built on NVIDIA IGX and Holoscan, Nexxis Compute combines Barco’s AV-over-IP routing with real-time edge computing to support AI-enabled applications and real-time video processing in the OR. The platform is designed to simplify integration for medical device manufacturers and OR technology providers while offering independent software vendors a validated infrastructure for AI-driven surgical applications.
