Siemens Healthineers has introduced a new suite of AI-driven radiology services and simulation tools aimed at reducing clinical workload and improving hospital operations.

The offerings are being showcased this week at the RSNA annual meeting in Chicago.

The Malvern, Pennsylvania-based company’s updated radiology services suite includes vendor-neutral tools that cover the imaging workflow, from scheduling to image acquisition and report generation. One of the new components, called AI-Enablement Services, uses AIe to identify and summarize clinically relevant findings in diagnostic images. According to Siemens, early pilot studies found radiologists were able to annotate chest CTs up to 25% faster using the tool, without compromising diagnostic accuracy.

“It is very similar to having a resident physician drafting cases to you, with the tedious work already completed when you open a case,” said Dr. William Baughman, a radiologist at the MetroHealth System in Cleveland, who tested the service. “This allows you to move more efficiently through cases and decreases cognitive load.”

The company’s existing remote services, Remote Scanning Services and Remote Reading Services, are also integrated into the suite. These offerings allow radiology departments to access off-site support during imaging procedures or outsource report generation to licensed external radiologists. Siemens Healthineers said it is also developing additional tools to assist with scheduling and load balancing.

Separately, the company is rolling out an AI-enhanced advisory platform called ActExcell Operational Twin. Using a combination of customer-specific data, predictive simulation, and expert input, the system models different operational scenarios to identify efficiency improvements. The tool is designed to help healthcare providers evaluate changes before implementing them, with targets such as reducing patient wait times or optimizing scanner utilization.

Siemens Healthineers said the new services are intended to support radiology departments facing increased demand and persistent staffing shortages.
