Ardent Health will deploy Fujifilm’s Synapse enterprise imaging platform across its hospital network as part of a broader effort to consolidate imaging workflows in radiology and cardiology.

The Brentwood, Tennessee-based health system said the agreement covers its acute care hospitals across six states. Fujifilm’s Synapse platform includes a vendor-neutral archive, diagnostic PACS viewer and mobile imaging access tools designed to centralize patient imaging records across departments.

Ardent said the system will allow clinicians to access radiology and cardiology images through a single interface integrated with Epic’s electronic health record platform. The integration is intended to reduce the need to move between separate systems for images, reports and patient data.

“Ardent has a deep commitment to deploy technologies that improve quality and access to care in meaningful, measurable ways, while removing administrative barriers that weigh on physicians,” said FJ Campbell, M.D., chief medical officer at Ardent Health. “We’re pleased to partner with a technology leader that supports every part of patient imaging and data acquisition across our enterprise.”

Fujifilm said the deployment includes its Synapse VNA and Synapse Mobility products, which support access to imaging records through mobile devices and within the Epic workflow. The company also said the platform can manage both DICOM and non-DICOM imaging data.

Bill Lacy, senior vice president of medical informatics global business at FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation, said the partnership is focused on workflow automation and improving imaging turnaround times.

The companies said the imaging platform is expected to support collaboration between radiology, cardiology and other clinical departments by providing a centralized patient imaging record.

Ardent Health operates 30 acute care hospitals and more than 280 care sites across six states. Fujifilm Healthcare Americas, based in Lexington, Massachusetts, develops imaging and informatics technologies for diagnostic and clinical workflows.
