MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Rachel Tignor has been named vice president and chief managed care officer for the WVU Health System (WVUHS), effective July 5.

Tignor has served in leadership roles of increasing responsibility over the past five years, most recently as the Health System’s assistant vice president of enterprise payer relations and contracting.

In that role, she successfully led numerous complex payer negotiations, helping advance strategic partnerships and strengthen relationships with commercial and government payers across the enterprise.
As vice president and chief managed care officer, Tignor will lead all payer contract negotiations and oversee relationships with health insurance companies and managed care organizations on behalf of WVUHS facilities and providers.

She will be responsible for both fee-for-service and value-based contracting strategies and will oversee economic credentialing and payer enrollment across the health system.

"Rachel has proven herself invaluable at WVUHS, demonstrating both managed-care acumen and long-term strategy in her negotiations with payers," Ben Gerber, WVUHS senior vice president and chief strategy officer, said. "In her new role, I am confident that Rachel will continue to drive operational and financial improvements that support WVU Medicine's mission."
