Xoran MiniCAT

The anxiety that comes with waiting for imaging results cannot be underestimated. After the scan is taken, the whole range of potential pathology, known or unknown, runs through the patient's or parent's mind with newfound and boundless creativity. And that unfortunately imaginative process can continue for days, if not over a week, while reports are generated and sent, images are requested, and images are finally reviewed.

So when the time came for my four year old son's temporal bone CT, I shortened that process to approximately 5 minutes by turning to the Xoran MiniCAT in my office. Besides the low radiation and excellent image quality, the instant access to the images made the choice obvious. I have seen the look of gratitude and relief on countless patients' and parents' faces while reviewing their scans, and I saw it again on my wife's face (and had there been a mirror, no doubt my own) when I found my son's scan to be normal. And my son breezed through the scan without a tear or even a whimper.

Having the Xoran MiniCAT available in my office allows me to offer a different level of service to my pediatric patients in particular - not only high quality, but also humane medical imaging in a non-threatening environment. Keeping the child in an upright position allows him or her to maintain a sense of control and familiarity. And one can easily tailor the incentives and environment of the scanning room to suit the age of the patient, something that simply does not happen in the majority of radiology practices outside of pediatric hospitals. Lastly, one can provide the parents with nearly instant feedback on the images, which is something no hospital or radiology practice can match.

So in my practice, and in my family, the choice for pediatric scanning is obvious.
